Job SummarySummer Legal Intern Associate Program : 1L Position Description
The goal of the Summer Legal Intern Associate Program is to hire and develop high potential candidates into attorney positions at Travelers. The Summer Legal Intern Associates have the opportunity to work directly with seasoned attorneys during the summer months. Summer Legal Intern Associates are given the opportunity to do research, draft briefs and motions, and observe proceedings in various courts.
The Corporate Legal attorneys handle a wide variety of the Company's legal needs, including mergers, acquisitions, corporate finance, investment advice, contract, procurement and intellectual property. The Corporate Litigation team manages non:claim litigation, shareholder and securities litigation, class action litigation relating to the Company's business practices, litigation concerning the Company's real estate and investments, the bankruptcies of our customers and agency disputes.
Primary Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesCandidate Criteria
Must be entering second year of law school in the fall of xxxx. Must have strong academic credentials and leadership experience and have the motivation to succeed. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Experience in manual and computerized legal research preferred. Must be resourceful, thorough and analytical in order to develop information and obtain materials relevant to the objectives determined by management. Must maintain composure and professionalism under pressure. Must be proficient in using Word and Excel. Knowledge of PowerPoint and Access preferred.
The ideal applicant will have business:related experience or interest. Interns not local to Hartford, Connecticut will be responsible for their own housing and transportation.
