As part of its long term growth strategy, Travelers has an opportunity for a 2VP Information Systems role for our Claim Application Development team reporting to the Vice President, Information Systems in the Claim Technology organization. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities Primary responsibility is the leadership of strategic application development teams focused on the transformation of Claim Platforms. The candidate will be accountable for setting our development strategies, plans, resource assignments, and software deliveries for our Claim portfolio. The candidate must be comfortable working in a large highly matrix and complex business and technology environment. This individual must be a thought leader, strategic partner and trusted advisor by his/her partners, with proven experience interacting with senior business and technology executives. Finally, he/she must be a strong people leader, building credibility, talent, commitment and energy within his/her team. Accomplished technology leader with a strong blend of technology and business acumen. He/she will have strong leadership skills and a track record of leading large scale application development teams, preferably in the P&C or financial services industry. He/she must demonstrate the ability to maximize the leverage of enterprise, line of business and global sourcing partner capabilities to deliver high quality services in a cost effective manner with a focus on continuous improvement. Working closely with Claim Business Delivery Services, Architecture and QA teams, manage the development of large scale strategic technology assets for the Claim platform ensuring key business service levels are met or exceeded, with a constant focus on delivering sustainable and innovative solutions. Drive the Claim IT application simplification strategy including management of the retirement roadmap for obsolete systems as well as retire obsolete applications. Participate in the development and execution of a workforce management strategy to position our technical workforce for future capabilities. Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of application development processes in Claim IT. As part of the responsibility, this role must have a strong working relationship with the Enterprise Capability Office (ECO) to ensure our development practices are in alignment with enterprise best practices. Provide robust operational metrics and performance reporting leveraging enterprise best practices and capabilities. Financial management of the $20M direct for the application portfolio and a team size of 150+ with a strong focus on application total cost of ownership. BS in IT or Business related discipline or similar degree. Master's Degree Preferred. Working knowledge of the insurance industry preferred, but not required. Most notably in the area of P&C Claim Minimum 10 years of experience of leadership of multiple IT disciplines in a strategic development organization. Leadership of large scale systems development projects. Development of strategies for systems portfolio simplification and decommissioning of obsolete systems. Establishing and maintaining strong business and technology partnerships driving to successful outcomes. Leadership in an IT Organization utilizing both leading edge and legacy technologies. Technology capabilities and a keen interest in staying abreast of emerging technology trends. Successful leadership working in highly matrixed and dynamic environments. Strong planning experience resulting in achievable plans supported by sound resource and demand forecast plans. Vendor management experience with global sourcing vendors Organizational planning and change management. Communication: Effectively communicates (verbal, written and presentation ability) in a manner consistent with the audience.
